CAPS Counselling & Psychotherapy Services in St Albans, Hertfordshire and Online

Tracy Kitching (she/her), Member of BACP

I am an integrative therapist and counsellor and work with a wide variety of issues including, but not limited to; depression, trauma, low self-esteem, anxiety, relationship difficulties, stress, loss and identity issues.

My approach

My practice is integrative and relational. Working integratively, I draw on several schools of therapy (humanistic, existential, psychodynamic & somatic), believing that each of us is unique, so can tailor your therapy to meet your individual needs. With a relational approach my aim is to be a human being first and a therapist second. We are all shaped by our social context and the sense of who we are is intimately entwined with our relationships. I believe working relationally means both the therapist and client contribute to the relationship -- therapy is a joint enterprise and a collaboration. In my work, I acknowledge the harm that societal oppression and discrimination can have on a person’s wellbeing, whether that be race, class, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability and other intersections.

Most of the work I do is open-ended and long-term. Grounded and warm, I offer a safe and steady hand to support you in working towards change, healing and growth.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a post graduate diploma from The Minster Centre in London, one of Europe’s leading training organisations for integrative counsellors and psychotherapists.  I am currently undertaking advanced clinical training with The Minster Centre and Middlesex University, working towards an MA in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling.

I have experience of working as a therapist in community and NHS settings, where I have worked with a diverse range of people from different backgrounds and presenting issues.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I spent 20+ years in the corporate sector at large multinational blue-chip companies and understand the pressures and complexity that corporate life can bring.

The therapeutic relationship offers an opportunity to discover who you are and a safe space to try out new ways of being. If you would like to know more about how I work and whether I would be a good fit for you please get in touch.
